Northern Scotland.

APPLICATIONS by Dundee Corpora tion, some incorporating modifications, will first be heard at next week's meeting in that town and will be followed by a group of stage-service applications by the Scottish Motor Traction Co., Ltd. A number of independent operators will subsequently be heard in connection with licences and backings for excursions and tours ; in connection with these the L.M.S. Railway Co. is offering almost general opposition. The Aberdeen sitting will be featured by L.N.E.R. Co. objections to local stage-service operators. • West Midland.

THE Commissioners have now pub lished detailed arrangements for their sitting opening • at Birmingham on Thursday week, March 31st.. A largo number of applications for excursions and tours will first be heard, there being some fairly strong opposition, Particularly by the L.M.S. Railway Co.

B42 Later, stage-service applications by private bus operators, as well as many by the Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Co., Ltd., will be dealt with, there being no indication of opposition to the latter group. Several independent coaching concerns will meet the opposition of the railways when applying for new express services between midland towns and coastal resorts.

Western.

LISTS are available of applications to

be heard at the Exeter and Plymouth sittings next week. Mr. S. T. Britton, of Ilfracombe, will apply at Exeter for a backing in regard to a new Birmingham-Ilfracombe express service, and will be opposed by several well-established operators, as well as by the L.M.S. Railway Co. At the same sitting Devon General stage and express-service applications will be heard. At Plymouth the Western National Omnibus Co., Ltd., will oppose new excursion and stage-service applications by some independent operators in Cornwall.

Southern.

A SITTING has been arranged to be

held at Hyde, Isle of Wight, on April 4th. It will be almost entirely devoted to the hearing of excursion applications, and no objectors are listed in the latest gazette. , Incidentally, at this week's Reading sitting opposed stage-service applications are being dealt with first and are being followed by opposed excursion and tour applications and opposed express-service applications. All the unopposed applications will be heard last.

South-Eastern.

FULL details of this week's Tunbridge Wells proceedings were announced only a few days ago. Quite a surprising number of applications is being made at this sitting for either modified or new express service between London termini and coastal resorts. In this respect, Mr. C. G. Lewis, of Greenwich, will meet with some opposition from established operators.
