Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Shell drivers are being told to use "good manners" to fend off angry demonstrators complaining about the company's decision to sink an oil rig in the Atlantic. The guidance has been issued to all Shell employees following UK and German demonstrations organised by Greenpeace against the decision to sink the Brent Spar oil platform, rather than dismantling it on shore. It has been greeted with scorn by the Transport and General Workers Union (TGWU).

Brian Williams, TGWU regional officer in southern England, says: "They shouldn't put their drivers in that position in the first place. It's totally wrong of Shell to ask its drivers to make excuses to the public for senior management decisions."

Shell dismisses the complaints in the UK as "a handful of demonstrations at a few service stations".

Greenpeace plans demonstrations at up to 200 UK Shell garages in the next few days and is pressing for a panEuropean boycott on Shell products.
