HYDRAULIC suspension is featured on the new range of 12.2m (40ft) tri-axle flat trailers built by Nooteboom.

The latest suspension combines high roll stability and load equalisation with loadapportioning braking. Each axle is located hy two trailing arm parabolic leaf springs which have hydraulic cylinders mounted behind them and interconnect down either side of the vehicle. These provide for axle load equalisation over varying road conditions.

Individual axle loading is sensed via the hydraulic system CO apportion the braking effort accordingly, while progressive spring action is controlled using nitrogen gas accumulators.

Nooteboom uses stainless steel rams with a hard chrome finish and sealed by a triple layered gland seal tightened with the threaded collar.

A platform trailer with head board weighs 5,200kg (5.12 tons) and costs i:8,500 excluding vat. A similar trailer minus the head board for bodybuilding is 150kg (3 cwt) lighter.

The trailers are marketed in the UK by Howard Whitehouse (Trailer Sales) of Barnsley, South Yorkshire.
