Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Commercial vehicle exhibits at the Essex County Show again emphasized the wider interest created by local events of this kind. Gone are the days when horseboxes and grain carriers were the only representatives of the motor industry and, indeed, at Great Leighs, Essex, last week there was not a single livestock vehicle apart from those bringing animals into the showgrounds. Several exhibitors took the opportunity to display large TIR-type semitrailers while bulk feed vehicles provided evidence of the increasing use of light alloy bodywork.

Exhibits by Scantruck Ltd included the new Scania 6x2 rigid and a lhd sleeper-cab 110 tractive unit for Asian Transport Ltd. Vehicles on the prominent Ailsa Truck stand ranged from an F86 tractive unit to a G88 tractive unit for Hays Transport Services Ltd, of Dagenham.

Also shown were the first two Volvos supplied to Pure Lard Ltd of London, an F86 6x2 rigid with high-sided bodywork designed by the operator and built by Yeoman Bodywork Ltd, of Deptford, and an articulated tanker for refined cooking oils. The semi-trailer 5300gal stainless steel insulated tank was built by Crane Fruehauf Ltd.

A Bedford on the Barnard stand had an unusual aluminium body by William MacC omb, of Tattershall, Lincs, with horizontally divided sidew ails and Edbro tipping gear. Another new tipping body, on the same stand was mounted, by Cravens Homalloy on a Mercedes-Benz LPK 2419 double-drive chassis. Dual-purpose bodywork by Pengco on a Dodge KP 1000 chassis, shown by J. Day (Chelmsford) Ltd, allows the vehicle to serve as a bulk carrier or, with the sides and tailboard removed, for general freight.

The Show also gave the distributors of Mazda vehicles the first chance for a public presentation of the new 1600 pick-up truck announced recently (CMJune 8).
