• The practice of turning large articulated lorries in the road creates "a monstrous danger on the highway and must be stopped," a High Court judge said on Monday.
Mr Justice O'Connor awarded £3075 damages to a baker's roundsman, injured when his van ran into the side of an articulated lorry turning across the road at night.
Blocking a main road with a large lorry was asking for trouble, he said. "There is simply no excuse for this type of action."
The damages were awarded to Mr Anthony Roger Mann, 31, of The Briars, Cheshunt, Herts, against the lorry driver, Mr James Joseph Hannon, of Grangeside Avenue, Hull, and the owners of the lorry, Key Warehousing and Transport Co Ltd, of Marfleet Avenue, Hull.
