Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A decision taken at the agm of the Public Road Transport Association held in Brighton last week (report of conference: page 45) means that PTEs will have a. stronger place in the Association. PRTA members decided to revise their constitution to allow PTEs — and there may eventually be seven altogether — to have a stronger voice.

The agm also approved the election of 11 members to the national council. A third of its 33 members are elected annually. Those elected were: from PTEs, G. A. Harrison (SELNEC), F. J. Lloyd (West Midlands), Dr. T. M. Ridley (Tyneside); from companies, I. M. Birch, D. S. Deacon (National Bus Company), R. MacKenzie (Scottish Bus Group), G. Neely (NBC), S. J. B. Skyrme (NBC), F. J. Speight (Grey-Green Coaches Ltd), W. L. Sword (SBG); from municipalities, J. C. Franklin (Blackpool).

Mr R. Bailey, general manager of Lancashire United Transport Ltd, is expected to be invested as the PRTA's next chairman at a meeting next month. He is currently vice-chairman and would succeed Mr D. S. Deacon who has been chairman for the past two years.
