Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Dutch freight forwarding giant Frans Maas is abandoning UK hauliers in favour of less expensive foreign haulage firms. UKbased Clive Julian, Frans Maas's European unit load manager, reports that he has seen a swing of "at least 20%" from UK to foreign hauliers in the past eight months; the company has set up an office in Lille to run more trailers from France.

"UK hauliers are not in a position to compete and we have had to stop giving work to people—many who have been working with the company for years," he adds.

Julian also runs his own operation. Yare Haulage, and has flagged out his first vehicle to Holland. with the remaining 33 to follow in the next 12 months. "I'm still employing British drivers but I won't be paying VED to the British Government," he says. The Government has made a lot of promises but how long before they take some responsible action to safeguard our industry?"
