Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Leyland Daf has launched its second generation of electronic diagnostic equipment, called Davie II. It investigates problems on electrically controlled air suspension (ECAS), the electronically controlled central timing unit (CTE-2) and the digital instrument panel on the 75 and 85 Series.

Davie II can be used as a direct tester for individual components or an "expert system" using a fault tree. As an individual components tester, the technician must know the required readings and the fault-finding process.

The fault-tree system starts with the technician entering the problem. The computer then follows through the diagnostic process, stopping whenever operator information is required.

When all the measurements or answers are entered, the final problem and fault are displayed.

Other vehicle functions, such as the speed control (ECAS), engine stop unit (M), and ZF retarder featured on Davie 1 have been incorporated into CTU-2 and are diagnosed through this route by Davie II.

Dealers are placing orders for Davie ll but operators and other workshops will not be able to buy the kit.
