FOLLOWING CM's operational trial of an automatic Volvo F86 tractive unit, we have now been able to test the F86 8x4 tipper chassis fitted with a Neville Industries Ultralite body. Running over our Midland test circuit, it returned an overall fuel consumption of 43.2 lit/100km (6.54mpg).
We also tried the vehicle on site at Iver in Buckinghamshire, where the Allison automatic gearbox proved its worth.
