CLANMAC Minibus and Taxi Hire Ltd, of Simpson Drive, East Kilbride, will not be allowed to operate more than one vehicle until proper assurances for operation and maintenance are given to the inspector.
Clanmac appeared before the Glasgow Traffic Commissioners under Section 127 after an adverse inspection report. The firm was advised that a vehicle might be permitted given proper assurances on operation and maintenance. A second vehicle would not be permitted.
James MacFarlane, of Clanmac, had a car accident in 1974 that had left his business in a confused situation, he said. When the licence ,appeared to be lapsing, a warning was given in May 1976.
In March this year, he asked for two vehicles and, in April, one of the two was inspected and to be found "in a shocking condition." An immediate prohibition was imposed.
Mr MacFarlane said he had relied on a local garage and produced bills showing £479 paid for servicing.
On that vehicle, allegedly serviced, there were seven major defects as well as 28 further minor defects. There was no sign of planned maintenance being done.
Stewart Graham, senior examiner, said they had still not been able to examine the second vehicle.
