THE tender of Leyland Motors Ltd. has been accepted by Birkenhead Corporation transport committee for the supply of 13 Atlantean double-deck bus chassis, at a cost of £3,230 each, and a tender of Massey Bros. Ltd. for the supply of bodies at a cost of £4,115 each.
For some years Birkenhead has standardized on Leyland forward-engined double-deckers. but in 1964 a pilot batch of maximum-capacity, rear-engined double-deckers was introduced, Daimler Fleetline chassis being employed for the nine buses involved.
West Hartlepool Needs More Panthers: Leyland Motors Ltd. has been asked by West Hartlepool Corporation to estimate for the supply of five Leyland Panther bus chassis for delivery during 1968-9. Tenders for the single-deck bodies required are also to be invited.
ECW Bodies for South Shields: South Shields Corporation Transport has accepted the tender of Eastern Coach Works Ltd. for the supply of five single-deck bus bodies at a cost of ,E3,317 each. They will be mounted on Bristol RESL chassis already on order.
