Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Land Rover is taking green issues seriously, investing £800m in new sustainable technology in conjunction with its sister company Jaguar, aimed at reducing CO2 emissions by 35%. Future steps include a variety of diesel/electric hybrid technologies, including plug-in, kinetic, with a miniature CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) contained within an energy-storing flywheel, and series, where a small engine provides drive via electric motors.

A key part will be Land Rover's ERAD (Electric Rear-Axle Drive), a device which blends mechanical drive together with electric drive using power created from an integrated starter/generator and regenerative braking, and stored in advanced lithium-ion batteries. This system provides the possibility of electric or mechanical drive, or both, while maintaining or even enhancing off-road ability.
