DIRECTORS FOR Boltonbased HT Storage and Distribution have angered subcontractors they owe money to after appointing insolvency practitioners yet allegedly continuing to work from the same premises under a new name.

Now experts will investigate whether the company is acting illegally.

The firm,which carried out work at a distribution centre in Bolton, wrote to its creditors in early January saying it had suspended trading and assigned FA Simms & Partners to carry out a creditors' voluntary liquidation.

However, subcontractors claim work for the carpet company resumed almost immediately from the same site but under a different name: Hatton Logistics.The directors are the same too: Darren and Lee Hiscox. One subcontractor says he is owed 14,500. He adds that he worked for HT Storage and Distribution for years and even recommended other operators to the firm: "It absolutely stinks.., no reason was given forgoing into liquidation." Another creditor owed over 19,000 says:" It won't close us down, but it hurts. It just sticks in my throat."

A spokesman for FA Simms & Partners confirms that HT Stoi age and Distribution has debts c 1100,000 and is no longer tradini He adds that a new company i operating from the same premise: "We have been alerted that it's possible phoenix company. W can't investigate until the [credi torsi meeting." This is schedule, for 17 February.

Darren Hiscox was not avail able for comment.
