Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

TRIALS WITH the Welwyn Tools Leister hot-air blower "Electron" have it's claimed, shown that body repair work using tin and zinc can be accomplished using the hot-air jet produced by this newly-introduced hand tool.

Welwyn says that after the damaged part of the body has been cleaned, solder paste can be applied to where the tin is to be added using hot air from the blower directed on to it for around 15-20 seconds, after which the flux can then be wiped off with a cloth. Tin from a thick rod can then be applied and shaped with a wooden spatula.

According to Welwyn, the hot air softens the tin to a paste-like consistency and it does not become too liquid as when a flame is applied, while the lower temperature of the hot air compared with the flame reduces the risk of damage to cables and plastic or rubber parts. Other uses of the blower include removing underseal, removing adhesive stickers, loosening bearings and gaskets, replacing windscreens, drying interiors and heating plastics.

A second hot-air tool from Welwyn the "trac" can be used to repair plastic and wash tanks.

The Leister "Electron" and "Trac" models are available for 220/240 and 110 volts AC mains operation. All are fitted with radio-interference-suppression. Welwyn Tool Cl, Stoneh ills House, Welwyn Garden City, Herts. Telephone: 07073 29121.
