Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I CAN WELL imagine the horror with which many of your readers read your leader "Home is Best" (January 8). Sheffield instead of Sitges, Newcastle instead of Nice and not even a plush south coast holiday resort!

In my experience, too many conference are planned around venues which provide a holiday centre for wives or girlfriends and somewhere where "delegates" can disappear to have fun. Business all too often takes second place.

By this I am not suggesting that this has been the case with the Road Haulage Association but I wholeheartedly applaud your ideas and the motifs behind them.

This year the RHA really could put the road transport industry's image across in a big way — in fact, Sir, it has got to.

Let us have the conference in a major industrial centre and take every possible opportunity to influence all businesses, local governments and the Government itself into "thinking road transport". They need to be educated. Let us lay the foundations at a super conference this year. It will not hurt anyone to give up this time to put in a 100 per cent effort, from dawn to dusk if necessary! B. RYAN Croydon
