Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

QINCE the Nash and Sherren hydraus-) lic refuse collector was first introduced, the triple hydraulic pumps have been replaced by a single Deri-Sini dual outlet unit, which supplies the power for both tipping and loading. Other improvements are concerned with the position of the hydraulic oil tank an& more particularly, with the interior loading arrangements.

In earlier models the refuse was dumped from the bins into a trough which was then carried forward to dump its contents at the forward end of the body. in the present Mk. III version the trough has given place to a plate which acts both as a grader and bulldozer.

This plate, which stands almost vertically at the rear, serves as a guide or chute during loading. When the plate is caused to move forward it trims the load until a point is reached when the refuse piles up above its lower edge. Thereafter, the plate dozes the refuse forward and ultimately compresses it slightly.

The plate is mounted so that on the return journey it assumes a horizontal position, but loading cannot proceed until it has fully returned and dropped down. The makers are the Commercial Motor Garage and Repair Co., Ltd., 255-265 Kingston Road, London, S.W.19.
