he definitely accepted. The first list comprised 398 units (3,154 vehicles).

In a joint statement issued this week, the British Transport Commission and the Road Haulage Disposal Board said that they had nearly completed their decisions on the first tenders. These were for the 217 units consisting only of vehicles. Effective tenders were received for 215 units and decisions had been made in 201 cases. The highest tenders would be accepted for 136 un its.

Successful and unsuccessful tenderers would be notified within the next few days. Decisions in 14 cases demanding further information could not be made before January 25. This is the closing date for tenders for units consisting only of vehicles in List No. 2.

'Decisions could not be reached by that day also on tenders for units in List No. 1, which included premises. Offers for these units had to be received by January 11.

The statement emphasized that neither the Commission nor the Board had legal power to consider any bid arriving after the named hour.
