RESTRICTIONS on the use of butyl synthetic rubber have been eased. Hitherto it has been available for making inner tubes only for export or official use.
Butyl tubes hold air more effectively than those of natural rubber and will be made available as original equipment for new vehicles and for replacements. Availability will depend on how much butyl can be imported. It has to be botight for dollars.
