Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ALOUD, rousing cheer is hereby accorded to the national chairman of the Road Haulage Association, Mr. D. 0. Good. In his speech to the Southampton sub-area on Friday (see page 7), he spoke out with commendable candour and forthrightness on behalf of goods transport. For far too long now the handful of biased detractors have had things all their own way. The public has been force-fed with streams of unfair, and sometimes frankly untrue, propaganda designed to smear Britain's major inland carrying industry—road transport. Too little has been said too rarely and too softly in public reply.

The R.H.A. national chairman has shown the way. Road transport people are not usually afraid to speak their minds, especially on matters which affect their interests; perhaps they will be encouraged to do so now Mr. Good has shown them how, particularly in view of the strong words (reported last week) on behalf of most of the major p.s.v. operators.

There is only one way to answer the campaign being directed against road transport. That is to do what the bus operators and now the R.H.A. national chairman have done—speak out loudly, clearly and firmly. We have an excellent story to tell. It is up to everyone concerned to tell it at every opportunity.
