Tyre Spreader. for One-hand Use

A*SPREADER for dealing with most sizes of tyre has been produced by Thomas Meld rum, Ltd., Freedom Works, John Street, Sheffield, 2. Simple in construction, the tool has an overcentre action and is one-handed in operation, thus leaving the other hand free for manipulation of the tyre. The device costs 35s. and it weighs a little under 6 lb.

• A Novel Sling ASLING which can be supplied in any width, length or lifting capacity is announced by Cable Covers, Ltd., 296 Ewell Road, Surbiton, Surrey.

Rubber blocks, through which loopended wire rope is threaded, form the body of the sling, and can be arranged in a single row or in a staggered, interlocking pattern where several ropes are u.;ed to make up a wide sling. An optional fitting is a Talurit patented shackle at each end.

Because of its extreme flexibility and rubber construction, the Talurit sling is said to conform to any load shape, however yrregular, and to give a secure grip. proof loading certificate is issued with each sling.

Adjustable Wheel Chock AN adjustable wheel chock is now to be supplied by Tecalemit, Ltd., Plymouth, for use with all their plat' form-model vehicle lifts: The additional equipment will not increase the price of the lifts. The wheel chocks may also ' be obtained separately at £2 15s. each.

Container Hire Service

AHIRING scheme for the use of collapsible light-alloy containers has been introduced by Tracons, Ltd., 5a Dean's Yard, London, S.W.I. Containers are offered for the handling of different classes of goods and are available in four sizes. Each container is square in crosssection (1 ft., I ft. 4 in., 1 ft, 8 in. and 2 ft.) and respective lengths a're 2 ft., 2 ft. 8 in., 3 ft. 6 in. and 4 ft. 2 in. Each can carry about 1 cwt.

The minimum period of hire is three months, and the monthly rate per container ranges from 7s, to 19s. 6d., according to size. Rates for the hire of more than 25 containers at a time, or for periods of over a year, are more favourable.

Washing Made Easier ANEW detergent produced by

Tecalemit, Ltd., Plymouth, to be known as Tecalemit A,F.P/2, will in future be supplied for use with the Tecalemit Swain arch-type vehicle washer. It is claimed to speed up the removal of dust and dirt.

A rust inhibitor is embodied in the detergent to improve the resistance to rust of robbicans and the spray arch. For general use the dilution recom

mended is a pint of detergent to 20 gallons of water. Obtainable in 5-gal. containers, the improved detergent is priced at 27s., plus 5 per cent. per gal.

New Welding Process

ANEW welding process has been announced by Quasi-Arc, Ltd., Bilston, Staffs. Known as the Fusarci CO, process, it is a method of automatic arc welding evolved from the already-established Fusarc process.

Consisting of the Fusarc patented type of continuous covered electrode with a newly developed type of covering. the electrode is used in conjunction with a carbon-dioxide gas shield. This combination of flux and gas shield allows much higher welding speeds and the deposited weld metal is of a high metallurgical standard.
