Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

SUBSTANTIAL fare increases on express services are being sought by a number of operators in the Western Traffic Area. They include Associated Motorways and the Western National Omnibus Co., Ltd.

A 5-per-cent. rise in single and period return rates is proposed for Mondays to -Fridays throughout the year and Saturdays and Sundays in the winter. A 121-per-cent. increase on top of this is sought for Sundays and Bank Holidays in summer. 221 per cent. being proposed for Friday nights and Saturdays in summer.

Higher fares on excursions and tours from Blackpool are suggested by members of the Blackpool and District Motor Coach Owners' Association and W. C. Standerwick. Ltd. Examples of increases sought are: Barnard Castle. proposed fare, 14s. (present fare 13s. 3d.); Grange-over-Sands, 8s. 6d. (7s. 6d.): Manchester Races, hs. (5s. 6d.).
