Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

WE learn that the M.T. Co. (Motor W Coaches), Ltd., London, S.E., has purchased the goodwill of the winter service from London to Margate and Ramsgate run by A. Timpson and Sons, Ltd., London, S.E. The M.T. concern will operate. the service between October 1 and the Wednesday before Easter, and on the following day the Tirapsoia company will resume working and continue until September 30 This development has taken place as the result of the request of the Metropolitan Traffic Cammissioner, reported in the issue of The Commercial Motor dated December -28 last, for the coordination, in the true sense, of services from London to the Isle'of Thanct, the existing facilities being, in his opinion,. excessive. The South Eastern Traffic Commissioners, last week, concluded the hearing of the applications of the M.T. Co. for increased facilities and reserved their decision.

MORE OIL ENGINES FOR THE SAX, COMPANY.

PURSIIING its policy of replacing petrol engines by oil units for its service buses, the Scottish Motor Traction Co., Ltd., has recently placed another large order with Leyland Motors, Ltd., for engines of the directinjection type. In this latest order from the Western group, 101 engines are called for, which, it is understood, will be used to convert a number of single-deckers.

REDUCED FARES ON ASSISTANCE WARRANTS.

AN unusual application has been made by the East Kent Road Car Co., Ltd., for permission to issue tickets on unemployment assistance warrants, at 10 per cent, less than the ordinary fare, in connection with all the company's stage-carriage services. Considerable opposition is being put forward by the Motor Hirers and Coach Services Association and individual operators. From the terms of the application published in "Notices and Proceedings," it appeared that the application applied to all the East Kent services, but it is understood that, in fact, it relates only to stage-carriage services.

PROGRESS WITH NATIONAL MUNICIPAL AGREEMENT.

NTEGOTIATIONS are continuing be tween the Transport and General Workers Union and the municipal interests for a national agreement for transport employees. Another meeting was recently held, whilst the two sides will again confer next mouth.

BRITISH TROLLEYBUSES FOR RANGOON

AN order for a fleet of 15 SunbeamB.T.H. trolleybus chassis has recently been placed with the Sunbeam Motor Car Co., Ltd., by the Rangoon Electric Tramway and Supply Co. These chassis, of M.F.3A four-wheeled type, have been designed specially to take 30-seater single-deck, front-entrance, lightweight bodies, which will be built in Rangoon. As speeds of 2025 m.p.h. cannot be exceeded in Rangoon owing to congested thoroughfares, the B.T.H. company has found it possible to use a 35 h.p. geared traction motor of special design and light construction which, in conjunction with suitable foot-operated control gear, provides both regenerative and rheostatic braking. The vehicles will be equipped with four-wheel hydraulic brakes incorporating the Sunbeam patented compensating and sealing device. All electrical and chassis components will be treated to withstand tropical conditions of operation.
