been more engaged in the Olympics (200 delegates turning up for its Games conference earlier this month), and it seems keen to fill the vacuum left by the closure of the Freight Best Practice programme and maximise opportunities around government cuts (the Department for Transport doesn’t produce a guide to conspicuity regulations, it simply endorses the FTA’s guide).
Of course, the RHA has a new chairman, in the shape of Framptons’ Richard Fry, and we wait to see what effect he will have on the association’s direction.
It was a joy to see the RHA earlier this year objecting to licence applications from operators that it believed to be unfit: we hope this continues.
Ultimately, we place Theo de Pencier ahead of Geoff Dunning because, by the very nature of its members, the FTA constitutes a more powerful entity.
