Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

What better way to celebrate your 40th anniversary in the UK than to undertake the biggest single transport industry acquisition of 2011?

That’s exactly what Ryder did with its £151m takeover of Hill Hire, creating a rental and leasing giant with a fleet of 10,000 CVs and a 5,000-strong customer base.

Ryder’s fleet is dominated by DAF. David Hunt is the man at Ryder’s helm, and he told CM at the time of the acquisition: “We’re pleased with our relationship with DAF... Renault has made good strides both in the quality of its service and support and its drivetrain... I look forward to building strong relationships with other OEMs.”

Which sounds rather ominous to us.

Through its US parent, Ryder already has experience of the closest thing to Euro-6: American trucks running under EPA10 legislation, and thus Hunt and his team are perfectly positioned to operate the trucks of the future without fear.
