THE SCOTTISH International Tramway Association has been formed to look after a garden shed. This began life 80 years ago as an open-top doubledeck tram operated by Paisley and District Tramway Co. After it was sold in 1923 to Glasgow Corporation it was converted to a single-decker so that it could pass under a low bridge.
During the past 40 years or so it has been a tomato packing station as well as a shed. Now members of the far-flung association are to restore the wreck in Irvine Development Corporation premises and hope eventually to own and run a collection of trams.
