Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Two new CM series starting in the New Year

Commercial Motor is starting two new series of features in 1973, and the first parts of both will be published in the January 5 issue.

One will take the form of a regular column detailing for road transport operators the obligations of Britain's membership of the European Economic Community. This will start with a simple explanation of the Community's principal bodies — the Commission, the Council, the Parliament, the Economic and Social Committee, and so on with which we shall all need to become familiar. It will then take the legal and other requirements, section by section in a straightforward way, and tell operators how they will be affected.

The second series is a direct result of the many written and telephoned enquiries which we receive each week. "You need to know" is intended as a guide for newcomers and a cross-check for existing operators on the fundamentals of running a road transport business.

How do I gauge the demand for my services? What sort of vehicle do I need for the job? How will VAT affect my administration ? What does the Licensing Authority need to know when I apply to renew my licence or ask for a new one? How do I set about making my own costing system? These and a host of other important questions will be answered by this new CM weekly series starting on January 5. Retained week by week, the articles will form a valuable transport management guide for many sizes ot fleet.
