HOW local authority bus undertakings will be transferred to Passenger Transport Authorities was explained last week by Mr. Stephen Swingler, Minister of State for Transport.
There will be provision for the local authorities to receive contributions towards any costs they incur through the severance of the transport undertakings from the other activities, he said. Apart from this the transfer of assets associated with local authority bus undertakings would be on the usual statutory basis for the transfer of assets from one public authority to another. It would include the transfer of interests of the authority in fixed or movable property and of all liabilities as well as rights incurred in connection with the undertaking.
