Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

the publication dated August , 1975, page 31, "Questions ad Answers" you State in the nail paragraph of the last uesltion and answer : "driver lust undergo medical before ;sue Of hgv licence and again a each renewal."

Surely this is ncit correct ad a delver, under normal ircumStances, has an initial iedical, but no further medical ntil he reaches 60 years of age rid thereafter every three ears.

When this Act came into )rce some four to five years go II was asitcmiShed that a river could have a medical at 1 and for the next 39 years,

passing through a time of life, i.e. 45-55, when stresses could lead to heart conditions, was exempt.

Perhaps you will correct me should I be wrong, but all my driving staff have had their licenices renewed without a medical.

RICHARDSON, Gos forth, Newcastle upon Tyne.

[You are right. Once an hgv driving licence has been granted following a medical examination, the law requires that the driver shall have a further medical examination to obtain licence renewal after he has passed the age of 60.—Ed].
