A NEW computer terminal has been installed by Redland Roadstone Ltd at its Buddon Wood depot in Mountsontl, Leics, as part of a Om investment programme.
Annual output of crushed granite roadstone aggregate is now 1.2 million tons and this is expected to double in 15 years.
When a vehicle arrives (top left) the driver is issued with a badge and an operator enters details of the vehicle weight required and which of 20 different aggregate grades is needed into one of two Digital Equipment computers. The vehicle waits at a loading bay until an automatic signal directs it to the correct place.
The driver inserts his badge into a reader (top right) and the vehicle is automatically loaded with the correct weight and grade. The loaded vehicle goes to the out weighbridge Where the driver again inserts his badge (bottom left) when the gross weight is recorded. The driver then hands over his badge and receives an advice note or statement (bottom right).
