• Drivers who accidentally lose their licences can now get a temporary cover note on the spot from their local registration office, rather than waiting for one from the DVLA.
Pay increase
• Exel Logistics is offering a 2% pay rise to 220 Newsflow and Fashionflow drivers and warehouse staff. The Rail, Maritime & Transport union members are now voting on the deal.
Davies grows • Freight forwarder Davies Turner has launched an expansion programme at its 15 UK hubs, doubling Dartford's warehousing capacity to 7,900m2, and Birmingham's to 4,600m2. Bristol and Manchester will follow.
Boots order
• Boots has ordered 200 13.6m trailers —150 from GRP Massey and 50 from Crane Fruehauf They will be delivered in October and feature a new livery
Recorder reminder
• Trucks carrying quick frozen foods will have to be fitted with temperature recorders of an approved type and accuracy from 31 July.
Dusty trouble
• Humberside trucks with dusty loads are being targeted by police, port and council officials. Their biggest problem is operators carrying phosphate and coal.
