• Police chiefs want to get rid of a legal anomaly which appears to prevent officers from entering a truck's cab to inspect tachograph charts.
The Association of Chief Police Officers (ACP()) has written to the Home Office highlighting the
loophole, which means police could be prosecuted for trespassing if they enter a cab without the driver's consent. (see Legal Bulletin, page 39).
The Home Office is waiting for clarification from the Department of Transport.
