Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

E Eastern Licensing Authority, Mr.

W. P. S. Ormond, told a Hunts haulage take no action on an inquiry concerning revocation or curtailment of the firm's licences, bur that he would require a report in six months concerning their maintenance facilities.

Mr. Sid King, managing director of Sid King and Sons Ltd., of Ellington, Hunts, told the court that he planned to reduce his fleet from 22 vehicles to 16. His vehicles were used for road contract work and had to pass along bad, sometirnes unmade, roads.

He added that he relied on the drivers who were on the vehicles all day to tell him when attention was needed.

Earlier the court had heard an inquiry relating to licences of Thomas Stepney and Sons Ltd.. of Cambridge.

Mr. R. G. Shaw, for the firm, said the managing director. Mr. Thomas Stepney senior, was seriously ill and was represented by his son, Mr. Brian Stepney. He confirmed that the major cause of the maintenance difficulties had arisen through the delivery in December, 1964, of 200 gallons of the wrong type of oil, causing several breakdowns.

This did not completely account for the prohibition orders that the firm had received, said Mr. Shaw.

The technical side of the Ministry had advised the firm to reduce the size outs fleet, he added. They were selling 14 vehicles to two other Concerns, and the capital received would go towards improving their present facilities.

Two A licences—other than those about to be transferred to different firms were curtailed.
