Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

TIPPERS specially designed to meet

arduous conditions are being supplied to a well-known concern of British

contractors, which has a large project in the Persian Gulf, by the Carley Tipping Gear Co., Ltd., Mossley, near Manchester.

The type of vehicle used is an ex-military F.W.D. The body has been greatly reinforced, the sides and front having been heavily braced, whilst the floor has been fitted with 16 lengths of 3-in. by 3-in, angle-iron (mounted angle upwards), running longitudinally for the full length of the body and welded into position. It will be noted from the accompanying picture that the lengths of angle iron have been arranged to give a corrugated effect. Whilst such a floor adds to the unladen weight as compared with a normal wood type, it possesses great rigidity and is almost indestructible.

By designing the body with a sloping floor at the rear, labour can be saved by obviating the use of the tailboard for short jg.urneys.

The gear employed is the new Carley twin slant poweroperated end-tipping model for I0-12-ton loads, power being provided by a combined pump and power-take-off assembly. A heavy hinge bar and brackets are fitted, and the gear is entirely controlled from the cab.
