Colonel R. E. Crompton, C.B. (Chairman), presided at the Eleventh Annual General Meeting of the Commercial Motor Users Association, at the offices of the Association, 83, Pall Mall, S.W., on Wednesday last, the 14th instant, supported by Mr. W. G. Lobjoit (Vice-Chairman). Mr. E. S. ghrapnell-Smith (Hon. Treasurer), Messrs. G. Arnold, H. Cannon, W. F. h'rench, Barnard Humphrey, L. G. Oldfield, E. W. Rudd, W. IL Wilcox, Walter Wolsey, Jnr., John Faulkner, Leo Swain, F. A. Bonsor, W. G. I'elerin, W. IL Birch and other members.

The secretary (Mr. F. 0. Bristow, F.C.I.S.), having read the notice convening the meeting, the Chairman proceeded to deal with the main points in the annual report. The Association's work during the latter part of the year had naturally been, to a certain extent, curtailed by the war, but valuable assistance had been rendered to the War Office, the recruiting Authorities and other military and civil authorities, for which many letters of appreciation had been received. The Parliamentary and Legislative work, and more particularly the free legal defence and advice branch of the Association's activities, had again proved to be of material benefit to the general body of members, the majority of whom freely availed themselves of these privileges. A most important case of principle was at the present time engaging the attention of the Committee, viz., that in which the Royal Borough. of Kensington had served a writ on a C.M.U.A. member to show cause why an injunction should not be granted to restrain him from using motor wagons in any street in the Royal Borough. He also referred to the Lecture Scheme, which Was taking the place of the Annual Parade ; the 1914 Parade had resulted in a record assembly of 508 vehicles. With regard to the annual accounts, they only showed a small balanm of 25 on the right side, but, bearing in mind the strenuous times which were now existing, he thought the members could congratulate themselves on the year's financial work, the success of which was in a great measure clue to their Hon. Treasurer, Mr. Shrapnell-Smith. He formally moved the adoption of the Annual Report and Accounts, which was seconded by Mr. W. G. Lobjoit and carried unanimously. The. secretary read out the following nominations for membership of the General Committee, and these not exceeding the vacancies, the Chairman declared duly elected.

Allen, John. Mitchell, John C. Baxendale, Lieut. G. V. Oldfield, L. G. Blyth, Lt.-Col. C. F. T. Poynter, V. H. Crompton, Colonel R. E. Reynolds, R. C. De Mattod, J. H. Rudd, E. W. Faulkner, John. Shrapnell-Smith, E. S. French, W. F. Swain, Leo. Harrison, T. E. Thomson, Capt. H. Lyon. Hayward, Capt. W. D. Wheeler, Lieut. Chas, Kearns, Col. T. J. Wigan, H. W.

On the motion of Mr. W. G. Lobjoit, seconded by Mr. E. W. Rudd, Messrs. Andrew W. Barr and Co., Chartered Accountants, of 1, Queen Victoria Street, E.C., were re-appointed auditors. On the motion of Mr. E. W. Rudd, seconded by Mr. W. Wolsey, Jnr., and supported by Mr. Leo Swain (Manchester, Liverpool and Counties C.M.U.A.), the following recommendation of the General Committee was carried unanimously :-

" That the annual subscription be increased to 11 guinea, as from the 1st January, 1916, in the case of existing members, and forthwith in the case of new members."

Mr. W. G. Lobjoit moved and Mr. E. S. ShrapnellSmith seconded, and it was carried unanimously, that the recommendations of the Finance Committee with respect to increasing the legal-defence benefits of the Association be adopted.

A vote of thanks to the Chairman for his services during the year, proposed by Mr. John Faulkner (Manchester, Liverpool and Counties C.M.U.A.) and seconded by Mr. E. W. Rudd, was put to the meeting, and carried with acclamation, and the proceedings then. terminated.
