Readers still have time to take advantage of the exclusive deal we've struck with the ETA for cut-price training courses...

The FreightTransport Association is on the road with a string of one-day seminars for transport managers. They're designed to help operators comply with key legislation, some of it already in place and more to come into force next year.

The WorkingTime Directive features strongly in these seminars, with expert guidance on how to ensure your business adapts to this significant change in working practices.

The FTA is offering CM readers the same rate as ETA members; this saves £61 for the first ticket you book and £70 for each subsequent ticket.

Prices FTA members and CM readers will pay £299 (ex-VAT) each for the first ticket and £250 each for the second and subsequent tickets. Nonmembers would normally pay £360 (ex-VAT) each for the first ticket and £320 each for the second and subsequent tickets. Prices include coffee or tea and lunch.

In addition, anyone who wants a one-to-one discussion can book a half-hour surgery with an FTA expert after the main seminar finishes at 4.30pm. These sessions cost £75 (ex-VAT) and are offered on a first-come-first-served basis. They will run at 5pm, 5.30pm and 6pm. If you have issues specific to your company on the Working Time Directive this is an ideal opportunity to air them.

Value The cost of the surgery is refundable if you book an VIA audit or training course related to the Working Time Directive before 31 December 2004.

So what will you get for your money? The ETA's tried and tested format, presented by experts using state-of-the-art technology, is intended to be more informative and practical than ever.

The seminars focus on critical compliance issues for 2005. To make life easier for busy transport professionals they are being held at 12 sites across the country. ending in Durham on 8 December.

One session will focus on the 50 things your drivers need to know for safe and legal operalion, including record keeping on working time and security measures.

This will also be a good opportunity to meet other transport managers and operators who arc facing the same problems as your own organisation and may have valuable tips to pass on about meeting the challenges of staying legal in an industry where legislation is rapidly changing.
