Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I have never liked the suffix letters that many bus operators use to number their services. I'm also sure most passengers can't be bothered to understand the proliferation as As, Bs, Cs, etc., that appear in microscopic print after the main route number.

When a press notice arrived from London Tranport the other day, announcing changes to route 175A, I was hoping to read of really devastating improvements. Perhaps LT hac decided to renumber it 175 or something even more manageable.

As l read on, I discovered that LT in its wisdom had decreed that in future, the 175A would be known as 247B. Oh well, I thought, it ' must be an extension of the oft route and maybe there is some good reason for not calling it the 175A.

I read a bit further to discover that the new 2478 would run "serving the same roads and running between the same termini" as the 175A.

Even if I can't see the point in it, I hope that LT's customers, used to seeing their familiar 175A trundling down the road, will soon get used to . the super new 247B service.. There must be a reason and no doubt LT will want to tell me how logical, necessary and cosi efficient the whole thing is. I await with bated breath, sitting comfortably on the upper deck.
