Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

think, to be set in perspective. The TR R L report referred to, commissioned by the NFC and BRB, was in fact a general study of intermodel techniques for inland container operation.

Clearly, Freightliner methods had substantial relevance in this, and we were very happy to be put up as a "suitable case for study". One might add that the research was done in 1973, and the figures quoted refer to the situation at that time. We are currently making 10 per cent more loaded journeys with the same container fleet.

Certainly we are anxious to improve utilisation of our containers, and the TRRL report may well help us. But we would refute most strongly any idea that under-utilisation is inherent in the Freightliner operation. C. BLEASDALE
