Beagley to head CIT
NEXT president of the Chartered Institute of Transport will be Tom Beagley who takes over from current president, Maurice Gifford on October 1.
Mr Beagley, a CIT council member since 1974, has also served on the institute's general purposes committee and became a vice-presi4ent in 1976.
After joining the Ministry of Transport in 1946 he served with the Cabinet Office, the Ministry of Defence and the UK delegation to NATO. He is currently deputy chief-executive in the property services agency.
Sayid Rajab Al-Rifai (UK) Ltd has appointed Patrick Emmett director and general manager dealing with the company's support activities to Kuwait and Dubai.
He will also look at proposed future enterprises including bus and truck franchises.
A transport re-shuffle at Frigoscandia has led to Nigel Nixon becoming manager of the company's Liverpool depot and Paul Whick takes over from him at Stratford, London.
Mr Whick moves from King's Lynn where he has been controlling refrigerated transport operations for five years. Graham Eames moves up from deputy manager at King's Lynn to complete the chain.
