FOR D's TSD network offers a number of valuable back-up services to the operator. In brief these are: Parts Supply System With the backing of one of the world's biggest and most modern Parts Distribution Centres at Daventry, the Ford dealer can offer the operator a service which is second to none in the truck business To help keep operating costs as low as possible and downtime to a minimum the Ford Exchange Plan offers a wide range of remade parts from brake shoes to complete engines at considerably lower prices than new parts. All Exchange items are backed by the same assurance as new parts.
Ford Service The Ford Motor Company Customer Service Department is based at Laindon, Essex, and contains a department set up to deal exclusively with commercial vehicle service matters. These departments
include fleet service, service training, assurance and policy administration and customer relations. Support is provided by a service fleet staff located at six district offices throughout the UK.
Ford Service and Contract Confidence Many TS Ds offer contract service systems. like Contract Confidence. This plan frees the operator's mind from worry on compliance with the increasing complexity of the law and facilitates long-term vehicle use planning. Contracts for routine servicing, routine inspection, routine servicing and inspection, and full maintenance are available and all four ensure that the vehicles meet DoE require men ts.
Ford Care System Member operators and drivers can obtain instant nationwide credit for repairs or service from any TSD offering the Ford Care System. The system solves the problem of arrang ing payment with Ford Care dealers when the operator is unknown. Members receive publications and technical information published specifically for commercial vehicle operators.
Ford Operating Cost Analysis System This is a simple vehicle costing system available to any fleet of commercial vehicles from light vans to maximum gcw articulated outfits, public service vehicles and coaches. FOCAS is available for all makes of vehicles in all types of operating conditions and it enables both hauliers and businessmen whose vehicles are only a part of their business to account for every penny spent on their vehicles.
Special Vehicle Orders The SVO department provides equipment tailored to suit those operators who require something non-standard. A whole range of special vehicle options is available from purpose-built ambulance chassis to municipal chassis for refuse collectors. These options carry an unchanged customer assurance.
Ford Code This scheme was established to provide a framework for technical collaboration between Ford and the bodybuilding industry. By complying with Ford standards for body and equipment mountings the bodybuilders safeguard Customer Assurance for the chassis.
Bank Stock Facilities This system enables dealers to stock non-standard chassis or specialist bodywork in order to help avoid lengthy delays in delivery. A number of selected bodybuilders and equipment manufacturers who build in line with Ford Code of practice are allocated chassis on which they can mount bodywork or equipment. These vehicles are available to all TSDs who are kept informed of complete vehicles available to meet specific requirements ex stock.
Al Used Truck Plan A service provided by selected Ford dealers to give the operator a top-class used vehicle. They are prepared, when necessary, to meet standards laid down by Ford and the DoE testing and plating procedure.
Ford Rent-a-Van Ford Rent-a-Van dealers provide the opportunity for the operator to augment a number of his vehicles during the peak times or to replace temporarily a vehicle off the road.
Ford Credit
Ford Motor Credit Co Ltd (a wholly owned subsidiary of Ford Motor Co Ltd) is ideally placed to meet all the operator's financial requirements. A full range of plans is administrated through a national network of branch offices backed by a specialist fleet and leasing team based at its central office in Brentwood, Essex.
