• Poole-based freightforwarder Transfresh is poised to go into creditors' voluntary liquidation this month.

Meanwhile owner-driver Michael Winter, one of Transfresh's former sub-contractors, says he is considering closing his five-year-old Wellingborough-based business if he does not recover nearly £55,000 he claims he is owed by Transfresh. Winter says the outstanding payments date from last May.

At peak times he had as many as three of his four trucks and seven subcontracted vehi cies on runs to Spain for Transfresh.

Another owner-driver, Steve Kidd, says he had to close his eight-year-old business last May, after failing to get payment for nearly .C6,000 of invoices he claims are out standing from Transfresh.

Transfresh was unavailable for comment and its insolvency practitioner Stoy Hayward in Richmond, Surrey refused to comment.

Stoy Hayward has arranged a creditors meeting for next Tuesday (26 April).
