la ransport Secretary John MacGregor has told a worried Norfolk motorist that LGVs can legally drive at 60mph on single-carriageway Norfolk trunk routes. The motorist wrote to the Secretary for State after narrowly avoiding an accident when a heavy lorry overtook him at 60mph in the face of oncoming traffic. As every haulier (and Highway Code reader) knows, the single-carriageway LGV limit is 40mph. If MacGregor's department does not possess a copy (possibly having spent this year's budget on private eyes), the Hawk will happily send him 99p to purchase one from WH Smiths.
