tacho charts to drivers

• Failing to issue a tachograph chart to the driver of an eightwheeled tipper, being moved under trade plates has cost Kilmarnock-based McDougall Delivery Services £650 in fines and costs.

The company denied the offence before Leamington Spa Magistrates, claiming that the driver was selfemployed and ought to have provided his own tachograph charts.

Traffic examiner Dominic Green told the court that he stopped the vehicle, which was being returned to Renault Trucks at Dunstable, on the M6 in Warwickshire last July. The eight-wheeled tipper was registered as a goods vehicle.

The magistrates found the company guilty, fining it £500 with £150 costs.
