Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

The Daf XF105 has been elected International Truck of the Year 2007. At an awards ceremony during the IAA Hanover international CV show, IToY jury chairman (and CM edltor) Andy Salter handed the prestigious trophy to Daf president Aad Goudnaan.

The XF105, launched in the spring of 2006, beat off a serious challenge from the Renault Premium and Volvo FL to take gold. The Daf polled 38% of the votes cast by the 19-strong IToY jury; Renault took 27% and Volvo 14%.

The XF105 continues Daf's reputation for building fine long-haul trucks,'' says Salter. This category of the market continues to represent one of Europe's biggest and most important truck sectors and for a truck to be success

ful in this arena it has to meet the challenging demands of both the driver and operator. In the XF105 Oaf has addressed these two customer groups in impressive fashion."

Further down the weight scale Ford's ubiquitous Transit emerged the victor in what proved to be one of the tightest International Van of the Year elections to date.

As we reported last week all six candidates for the award were extremely strong and the voting was very close.

The latest Transit, which was launched in the spring, benefits from revamped styling, improvements to the engine and some impressive refinements to its ride and handling.

The Southampton-built machine fought off the challenge of the Sevel triple alliance from Fiat, Peugeot and Citron as well as the Mercedes Sprinter — the Sevel and Mere took second and third places respectively.
