Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Reflective signs on the back of LGVs will have to be more conspicuous from the beginning of next month when new EU guidelines become law.

Under the Vehicle Lighting Regulations 1989 all LGVs longer than 13m currently have to carry the British standard "Long Vehicle" sign at the back of the trailer; vehicles below 13m have to display chevrons.

From 1 October, to bring the UK in line with the rest of Europe, signs will have to be made of a more reflective material. All LGVs must have the new strips by April 1996.
