• James S. McCallum of Edinburgh, operating one vehicle, had it suspended for one month, the whole of October, in Edinburgh last week. He failed to appear at a previous hearing in July and had not contacted the Edinburgh office to explain that failure, That, said Mr A. B. Bimie the Scottish LA could have resulted in immediate loss of his licence. He had been leniently dealt with.

Mr McCallum admitted a series of convictions since 1970 including use of vehicle without authorization, failure to carry records and, again, unauthorized use of a vehicle. Giving decision Mr Birnie said there were two things he had to bear in mind; he was not impressed by the operator's demeanour or casual attitude but what he was there for was a number of specified convictions. He had also to accept that the worst of the convictions happened two years before. He would suspend the licence for one month; in that month the operator would have no vehicle authorized for operation.
