WITH THE ECONOMIC slump still upon us. the board members of Commercial Moror:s parent company. RBI, are keen on cost savings wherever possible. Last week they personally got our Renault Master long-term test van looking pristine during a morning of charity car washing. Luckily for the well-dressed team. which included the MD of the Road Transport Group, Jane Burgess, plans for them to wash a truly grubby 44-tonne tractor unit were thwarted by the usual M25 traffic. They won't he getting a long-term contract. though, as they charge rather more than the Polish operation in the disused car park next door, even if the .E400 proceeds did go to our charity fund, where they were matched by a company donation.
