A DECISION to suspend, immediately, the 28-vehicle fleet of A. Smith Garage Transport Ltd, of West Bromwich, made in the company's absence, was rescinded by the West Midland Licensing Authority, A. A. Crabtree, when managing director A. Smith appeared before him later in the day. The company had been called to public inquiry, Birmingham last we after complaints that it not abiding by a conditi placed on its licence that must not park vehicles in 1 street near its premises.
No reply
When the case was call there was no reply, althougi was said that the compan managing director had been court" earlier in the morning Henry Dodwell, a techni. assistant employed by t West Midlands Cour Council, said that, on Ii occasions since the licer was renewed and t condition imposed, in May, had observed a total of vehicles parked in t roadway for consideral periods. And there had lx complaints from members the public about parki overnight and at weekends. Mr Dodwell said that, wt he approached Mr Smith July about the matter, became abusive.
Irresponsible
Suspending the licence ut the company appeared befi him, Mr Crabtree said appeared to have act irresponsibly and he was prepared to tolerate apparent flagrant disregard the parking condition.
Mr Smith appeared bel the LA after lunch a apologised for not bei present earlier.
New premises
He said the company WO have completely moved operations to new premise: Oldbury by November 1. 1 new premises would erta the whole fleet to be parked the highway. Mr Crabtree said he wo arrange for a vehicle exami: to inspect the new premise:
