The Tilling Group of omnibus companies announces that J. W. Lawrence, at present director and general manager of United Welsh Services Ltd., has been appointed director and general manager of West Yorkshire Road Car Co. Ltd., and associate undertakings with effect from January 11967.

J. G. H. Hirsch, previously managing director of Ford of Switzerland, has returned to Ford of Britain as truck operations planning manager.

Sir Richard Thompson, having been appointed a director of Rediffusion Television Ltd., and of Rediffusion Holdings Ltd., has resigned from the board of BET Omnibus Services Ltd.

The retirement is announced of W. P. Kirkwood, director and works manager of Albion Motors Ltd. In his 47 years with the company, Mr. Kirkwood has taken a leading part in the development of production, inspection and management techniques. He became works manager in 1951 and joined the board in 1954. Replacing him as works manager is J. Pollock whose appointment to the board was announced in May. Mr. Pollock served his apprenticeship with Albion Motors and his subsequent appointments took him through various fields of the company's work, including plant, inspection, tool engineering and design.

The position of service manager is now filled by J. McGullle, who joined the technical staff in 1957 and has gained wide experience of service problems throughout the world.

R. F. Brown has been appointed general manager of York Technical Services Ltd., Market Harborough. He joined the company in 1962 as production engineer, advancing to production manager and chief engineer before his present appointment.

Rob Orchard has been appointed editor of the Leyland Journal in succession to John M. Aldridge, who has left to take up a position as assistant editor (features) on Motor Transport. Mr. Orchard was for four years a feature writer with the weekly magazine Model Engineer. His last four years have been spent with Leyland's sister company AEC Ltd., in Press work and producing the AEC Gazette.

The Retread Manufacturers' Association announces that A. D. Davidson (managing director of Tyresoles Ltd.), has been appointed president and E. N. Wilkinson (a director of Ondura Ltd.), vice-president of the Association. Three new engineering appointments are announced by AEC Ltd.: Denis P. Hickie, becomes assistant chief engineer; Peter E. Baker, experimental engineer; and Alan A. Barnes, assistant engineer, chassis design. Mr. Hickie joined AEC in 1932, moved in 1950 to Dennis Bros. Ltd. as projects engineer and later returned to AEC as chassis engineer. Mr. Baker, who joined AEC as an engineering apprentice in 1953, is a member of the MIRA research advisory committee on noise. Mr. Barnes joined the AEC drawing office in 1951 and progressed through the design section to take charge of goods vehicle design.

H. E. Martin-Leake has been appointed managing director of Kismet Ltd., following the resignation of L. W. West.

B. G. Mil, home sales manager of Ferodo Ltd., and formerly export sales manager, became the company's expOrt sales director on October It He succeeds T. R. Earnshaw who, after seven years in the post, has joined the board of Turner Brothers Asbestos Co. Ltd.

The Perkins Engines Group announces the appointment of B. P. Dyer, as group staff director, manufacturing. For the past two years Mr. Dyer, 39, has been general manufacturing manager of the Perkins UK operating unit. He will continue to carry out these duties until further notice.

Lennart Johansson, general manager of the Gothenburg division of SKF, has been appointed a director of Skefko Ball Bearing Co., Ltd.—the SKF company in Britain—to fill the vacancy arising from the death of G. A. R. Mead.

I. 1). Todman has been appointed sales manager of KJ. Motors Ltd., Bromley, Bedford and Land-Rover dealers, and J. R. H. Elms, sales manager of K. J. Motors (Orpington) Ltd. Operating from Bromley, J. B. Fletcher has been appointed wholesale manager for both companies.
