MR. RICHARD Eeraorr, a well known haulage contractor of Morpeth, • has been elected Mayor of Morpeth for the next financial year.
MR. H. P. TAYLOR, latterly Commercial sales manager for H. E. Nunn and Co., Ltd., of Manchester, has now been appointed sales manager for Messrs. Mears Motors, 284-286, Upper Richmond Road, London, S.W.14.
MR. H. J. TYRRELL, late Of Car Mart, Ltd., Stanhope House, Euston Road, London, N.W., has recently joined Adlards Motors, Ltd., which is a main Ford and Fordson dealer, in the capacity of sales manager, at its Brixton depot at 43-45, Acre Lane, London, S. W . 2.
MAJOR F. W. LOWN, M.C. , F.I.M.T., who, until recently, was with Dennis Bros., Ltd.. Guildford, is now transport sales director of Glass° Paints Products. Ltd., Perivale, Middlesex. From 1922 to 1927. Major Lown was sales manager of Sheffieldsimplex, Ltd., and later joined T.S. Motors, Ltd., where he was general sales manager up to the time he joined Dennis Bros., Ltd. MR. C. H. I IERRIE , late with Messrs. Neachells Garage and Indiana Sales, is now associated with Ferries Autos, Ltd., of Wolverhampton.
MR. J. HOUGHTON, B.Sc., a member of the research department of . Leyland Motors, Ltd., has secured the award of the Cross Medal for the best contribution to discussion during the 'past session of the north-western . branch of the Institution of Automobile Engineers.
MR. A. WILLIAMS, works manager of the Kingston, branch of Leyland Motors, Ltd., has been temporarily transferred to the headquarters' factory of the company, to take over the duties of the assistant general manager while Mr. Spurrier, Jnr., is abroad on a world tour visiting Leyland branches. 14IR. S. MARKLAND, A.M.I.A.E., M.S.A.E., research engineer, and Ma. A. HOSKER, a member of the planning department of Leyland Motors, Ltd„ left, a few days ago, for the United States. They will visit factories in Buffalo, Cleveland, Detroit, Pontiac, Chicago, Pittsburg and New York. This is the second year in succession that a tour of American automobile factories has been made by members of the Leyland engineering staff, with the object of interchanging ideas on manufacturing methods.
MR. A. A. LIARDET and MR. HENRY SPURRIER, JNR., have been appointed to the board of directors of Leyland Motors, Ltd., which is thus brought up to its Maximum strength of eight and includes, in addition to the above, Messrs. J. H. Toulmin (chairman), Henry Spurrier (managing), C. B. Nixon (deputy managing), A. Spurrier, Vernon Walker and Walter Davies. Mr. Liardet will continue as general manager. an office which he took over when he joined the company in 1923, whilst Mr. Spurrier, Jill., retains his 1928 appointment of assistant general manager.
