• Gist drivers in Carlisle are claiming that management has not made any attempt to negotiate with their representatives despite a second two-day strike (CM14-20 Nov).

The drivers took action on 14-15 November after rejecting the company's initial offer of a 3.1% rise. They say their basic pay is £72 below that of drivers at other Gist depots.

One driver insisted that there had not been "one word discussion". However, Gist communications manag Michele Mervin says a meeting has been scheduled with t conciliation service ACAS. She adds it is a "positive sig that there are no plans for another strike.
